My name is Jessica Amaya. I’m an entrepreneur, strategic business leader, and lover of arts and culture. With more than 20 years of experience, I specialize in business development, human resources, nonprofit management, and arts administration. Most recently, I was the Managing Director for CONTRA-TIEMPO, an Activist Dance Theater Company.

I’m currently seeking a new professional opportunity and consulting engagements.

I’m based in Los Angeles, California.

Besides my professional experience, I always ensure to give back to my community. I served on the Advisory Committee for The Japanese Garden, on the Marketing Committee for the Gaslamp Quarter Association, and was Director of Professional Development for the Hispanic Business Student Association, to name a few. The common thread through my experiences and community service has been combining insightful strategy, high-output operating principles, and effective tools to increase business growth. My roots are in human resource management, arts and humanities, and resilience. As a Colombian immigrant, I’m bicultural and fluent in Spanish.

I hold a B.A. in Global Humanities from San Diego State University and was selected among other local leaders to be a 2020 South LA Leadership Development Fellow at the Center for Nonprofit Management.

Want to learn more about my experience and skills?

My top core values are learning, courage, and generosity.

Learning

I strive to master new skills, topics, inspiring ideas, and bodies of knowledge to better understand life, humankind, and the world. My strength of curiosity is to expand my capacity so that I can serve my communities and people better.

Courage

My goals could not have been reached without my perseverance to continue in a course of action. Courage has allowed me to move forward through my fears and to do what is right even in the face of adversity.

Generosity

Generosity is an important value to me. It is not always about giving material things, but it is also about the support, attention, and empathy you give to someone or a cause. These little things can make all the difference in someone’s life and work environment.

I’m eager to bring my passion for building relationships and well-rounded experience to a new employer. I look forward to connecting with you.
